Research interests
Broadly, Dr. Gager's research explores the intersection of family, work, and gender. Her latest research examines the protective effects of generative activities such as volunteer and caring work on suicide ideation and depression among older Americans and how social support mitigates youth suicide. Dr. Gager received a NICHD grant to study the long-term effect of parental conflict/divorce on their adult children’s relationship outcomes. Earlier research explored perceived fairness of the division of housework.
