Dr. Erik Jacobson is the Graduate Program Coordinator for the Masters of Reading. He teaches courses on literacy foundations, content-area literacy, and reading comprehension. He is interested in the use of popular culture in the teaching of literacy. For example, he is the Program Coordinator for Write on Sports, a summer sportswriting camp for middle school students. He is also interested in the use of graphic novels, manga and comics in the classroom and has taught classes on that topic. Dr. Jacobson's work includes a focus on literacy and technology and he has taught classes on that topic, as well.

Dr. Jacobson's current research focuses on adult basic education policy, the use of technology in adult education classrooms and adult basic education in Japan.

He currently serves as the President of the University Senate and is a member of the Land Acknowledgement Committee, the Socially Just Business Practices Committee and the Plagiarism Working Group.
