Dr. John Siekierka's research interests deal with the biochemistry and molecular biology of parasite anti-oxidative stress responses. His group has been studying protein kinase signaling pathways important for parasite defense against host immune responses in the parasitic nematode, Brugia malayi, and the protozoal parasite, Leishmania mexicana. They have identified selective inhibitors of these protein kinases which may have therapeutic potential.
