Dr. Kathryn Herr is a professor in the Department of Educational Foundations in the College of Education and Human Services at Montclair State University. She primarily teaches qualitative and action research. Recent publications include The Action Research Dissertation: A Guide for Students and Faculty, (2015, Sage) with co-author, Gary Anderson.
Dr. Herr is interested in qualitative and action research methods. Most recently she completed a study of the first public middle school to move to single-sex academies/classes on a school-wide basis. Beyond this she is interested in issues of youth, youth violence and the fit/lack of fit between diverse youth and institutions of education.
