Dr. Kenneth Sumner is the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs at Montclair State University. He has been at Montclair since 1999, starting as an assistant professor and moving through various roles over the years. Dr. Sumner earned his doctoral degree is in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Bowling Green State University. Over the years he has taught a range of graduate and undergraduate courses and held leadership positions in the department, college, and the university. Dr. Sumner's research interests include decision making in the workplace and other topics related to organizational effectiveness including leadership, work attitudes, and work and family variables.

Dr. Sumner's current role as the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs focuses on academic personnel activities, strategy and strategic planning, academic policy, and innovation and organizational development and change. Several offices report to the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs including the Office of Faculty Advancement, New Faculty Program, University Career Services, Summer and Winter Sessions, Office of Community Engagement, Professional Education, among others. In addition, Dr. Sumner plays an important role in several other projects in the university including partnerships, academic space planning, and shared governance.

Personnel psychology, executive leadership, coaching, and mentoring, and organizational effectiveness.

Teaching

Dr. Sumner has taught extensively across the graduate and undergraduate curriculum and has focused a lot of attention in recent years to statistics and methodology in social sciences.
