The 2019 SIM IT Issues and Trends Study provides insight into the Key Issues facing IT leaders and presents opportunities for research. The responses come from 1033 IT executives, including 376 CIO's and 618 unique organizations with total revenue of $2.5 trillion and $133 billion in IT spending. The SIM IT Issues and Trends Study provides unprecedented opportunities for academic professionals to “dive” into the data and to raise research questions which help clarify these key management issues and challenges. This submission will trigger research questions which emanate from the 2019 SIM IT Issues and Trends Study and generate research opportunities for MIS academic professionals who are interested in creating research which impacts practice. Potential research issues include: Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, IT Alignment and Leadership, IT Talent, and Cloud-based Information Services. Each member of the research team will pose research questions relevant to their respective area(s) of expertise and also encourage members of the audience to raise additional questions. This session will be instrumental in identifying research opportunities which address the Key Issues facing IT leaders today. This session will provide significant research opportunities for academic professionals at AMCIS 2020 and will provide a mechanism to bridge the gap between research and practice.
