Abstract
Based on up-to-date research literatures, newfound N-DBPs are classified systematically such as haloacetonitriles (HANs), nitrosamine and halonitromethanes (HNMs). Toxicological characteristics of N-DBPs are summarized and compared, and the chronic cytotoxicity, acute genotoxicity and carcinogenicity of N-DBPs outclass haloacetic acids (HAAs) and trihalomethane (THMs). Future trends of development in this field are also proposed according to toxicity comparisons.
