Abstract

Let X denote a compact subset of ℝN and B the unit ball in ℝn. In this paper we investigate analytical and topological compactness properties of minimizing sequences (uk)k∈ℕ for the n-energy in the class of maps Mα := {u|∂B ⊂ X, the homotopy class [uk|∂B] = α }.
