Abstract
Chapter 9 provides clinical supervision activities and interventions focused on identifying and addressing barriers through resistance and opposition. This chapter contains five anti-oppressive clinical supervision interventions. In this chapter, readers will access a range of anti-oppressive interventions developed by interdisciplinary supervision experts with substantial experience in anti-oppressive practices. The interventions span various supervision formats and modalities, addressing supervisees at different developmental stages. Each intervention is intentionally designed for adaptability to meet specific needs and outcomes within professional contexts. Supervisors are encouraged to integrate these interventions with their preferred developmental, process, and psychotherapy-based frameworks while maintaining an anti-oppressive supervision practice. This chapter presents five distinct interventions designed to enhance supervisory practice: Supporting the Identification and Addressing of Barriers: Supervisors' Intentional Resistance and Opposition (SIAB-SIRO), Leveraging Reflexive Exploration to Build Anti-Oppressive Praxis: Integrating Narrative and Working Cross-Cultural Approaches, Resisting Oppression by Exploring Identities and Using Supervision Agreements to Co-Create the Supervision Space, Recognizing and Resisting Oppression, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Oppression Supervision Case Audit.
