Abstract

Sarah Powell Huntington House is a shelter run by the Women's Prison Association in New York City. The shelter uniquely met the needs of mothers reentering the community after incarceration by providing shelter for homeless individuals until they were ready to reunite with their children, at which point it provided shelter appropriate for families. The shelter became exclusively for formerly incarcerated mothers living with their children starting in 2014.
