Abstract

C. G. Chen and L. S. Shieh's (1969) technique for state-space realization of 1-D systems is extended to the case of 2-D systems. This technique is based on the idea of expanding the transfer function to a continued fraction expansion, and subsequently writing down by inspection the state-space equations. This approach is simple and yields a minimal realization.
