Abstract
This systematic review examines recent empirical research (2014–2024) on K-12 teachers' content-general beliefs about teaching and learning, building on the work by Fives et al. Through the analysis of 73 studies, we discuss themes that include the continued variability in belief definition, methodological trends, a reliance on reductive dichotomies, and a need for further examination of belief complexity. We recommend refining belief definitions and constructs, enhancing methodological rigor, expanding methodological approaches, and contextualizing findings to support meaningful advancements in research, teacher education, and instructional reform.
