Abstract

Ferrocene piano-stool isocyanide complexes ([CpFeL3] +, Cp = η5-C5H5, L = tert-butyl isocyanide (1), cyclohexyl isocyanide (2), and 2,6-dimethylphenyl isocyanide (3)) are formed by chemical oxidation of ferrocene in the presence of a stoichiometric amount of isocyanide ligand (1:3). The complexes are characterized by elemental analysis, routine spectroscopic methods (IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and UV-Vis), and cyclic voltammetry.
