N1 - Funding Information: We are proud to share this special issue with the education research communities, and we are eminently grateful to all the authors who contributed it, to all the reviewers whose feedback has helped to improve it, and to the Editors of this journal who gave us the opportunity to carry out this important project. It is your contributions that have made it so special. We also wish to acknowledge those whose work has laid a foundation for this and future research that seeks to further enable the mathematical participation of students with disabilities. In addition, I (Dake Zhang) wish to thank Drs. Yan Ping Xin, Carolyn Maher, Robert Siegler, Ron Tzur, Sarah Powell, Keith Weber, all authors who contributed to this special issue, and many other colleagues from special education, mathematics education, and the psychological sciences, for their work in this important research area, which has deepened my understanding of this intersection area and inspired the conception of this special issue. I also wish to thank my co-editor, Dr. Steven Greenstein, for your patience in listening, exchanging thoughts, and building bridges. And I (Steven Greenstein) wish to thank Drs. Paulo Tan, Jessica Hunt, Susan Baglieri, Rachel Lambert, and Priya Lalvani for their work and for the conversations we have had that have profoundly informed my understandings and that have supported the conception and implementation of this special issue. I also wish to thank my co-editor, Dr. Dake Zhang, for the collaborative bridge-building. Your wisdom ? and your ultimate patience ? have given me an even greater appreciation for your work and for your field.
